584 samples, including poultry anal swab, intestine, meat and poultry carcass wash water were collected at two slaughter houses, three central markets and three supe.rmarkets in Can Tho city for testing Campylobacter infection level in the poultry products. The analysed result showed that the rate of the positive samples with Campylobacter spp. was 11.52 percent in chicken and 9.68 percent in duck. Furthermore, the chicken meat samples collecting from the central markets had a higher rate of contamination than those from supermarkets (9.38 percent compared to 3.64 percent) and higher than the duck meat samples (9.38 percent compared to 4.64 percent). At the slaughter houses, the rate of samples contaminated with Campylobacter spp. in the chicken was 35 percent (anal swab), 22.5 percent (intestine), 18.3 percent (poultry carcass wash water), 5.9 percent (meat). Similarly, the samples contaminated with Campylobacter spp. in ducks were 20 percent, 15 percent, 10 percent and 4.7 percent respectively. The rate of the samples contaminated with Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli in chicken was 92.5 percent and 3.9 percent respectively. Meanwhile, the rate of the samples contaminated with Campylobacter jejuni in duck was 91.7 percent and the infection of Campylobacter coli in duck was not found.
