The control of groundwater is one of the most common and complicated problems encountered on a construction site. A number of well-established techniques have been developed to lower the ground water table during excavation include sumps, sheet piles, wells and wellpoints. A number of other dewatering techniques is available such as ground freezing. This paper discusses the construction approach to using ground freezing for providing temporary support and preventing groundwater from flowing into excavations.
