This study aims to evaluate the Nitrate and Phosphate absorption ability of Ulva intestinalis under laboratory conditions. The result showed that Ulva intestinalis may be a potential seaweed species for treatment of organic pollution in the shrimp ponds. The NO3- absorption ability of young Ulva intestinalis was about 6.58 +/- 0.57 percent/day and of mature U. intestinalis was 5.29 +/- 0.75 percent/day. The PO4 absorption ability of the young U. intestinalis was 3.85 +/- 0.38 percent per day and of the mature U. intestinalis was 6.74 +/- 0.31 percent per day. During the experiments, the total nitrogen concentration was 1.84 to 3.93 times higher than the concentration of NO3, and the total Rhosphorus concentration was only 1.11 to 1.41 times higher in comparison to the concentration of PO4.
