This study aims to evaluate the factors affecting the happiness of farmers after acquiring land for urbanization in the suburbs of Hanoi. Data were collected by survey questionnaire from 100 farmers who were recovered by the local Government for urban expansion and industrial development. Based on the analysis process in SPSS, the results prove that income and expenditure; urbanization aspects; compensation and Utilization after acquisition play an extremely important role in the happiness of land-lost farmers; followed by social facilities and living status at the same level. In contrast, the social cost has a negative impact on their one, however, no significant clue. Interestingly, this study gives some suggestions for local governments to protect farmers’ rights and interests to improve their happiness and social sustainability. As a result, this study suggests some solutions to improve the level of happiness for almost land lossed famers.
