FLT3-ITD gene and NPM1-MutA gene have an important role in diagnosis and prognosis in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Objective: To initially determine the expression of FLT3-ITD and NPM1-MutA genes in acute myeloid leukemia. Patients and methods: 36 patients with acute myelogenous leukemia were studied. DNA were extracted from leukemic cells and Semi-Nested ASO-PCR for NPM1-MutA and FLT3-ITD genes was done. Results and conclusions: FLT3-ITD was found in 8/36 (22.22 percent) with normal karyotype 22.22 percent. NPM1-MutA was found in 6/36 (16.17 percent) with normal karyotype 22.22 percent.
