The article examines the typical marriage forms among the Ha Nhi people residing in the Vietnam-China border area. These forms include same-ethnic marriage, crossborder marriage and mixed-ethnic marriage. The analysis of these marriage forms is not limited to social institutions or economic relationships; instead, it is based on the ethnic composition, nationality, and nation of each individual within the ethnic and social environment, which are influenced by various border factors. The study of Ha Nhi people’s marriage forms provides insights into the developmental process of this ethnic group and their ability to adapt to social changes. Given the current sociopolitical context in the Vietnam-China border area and the living environment of the Ha Nhi people in Y Ty commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province, this research holds significance.
