Purposes: 1. To describe the clinical characteristics of recurrent anterior glenohumeral dislocation. 2. To analyze the functional outcome of the Bristow-Latarjet procedures in patient with recurrent anterior glenohuhumeral dislocation. Methods: Records of 42 patients (42 glenohumeral joints) were reviewed retrospectively and prospectively. Date of first dislocation, mechanical injury, and number of recurrent dislocation before and after surgery were recorded. The overall function and instability of the glenohumeral joint were evaluated. Results: All of the glenohumeral joint dislocations were caused by trauma. The overall functional outcome was good, with the mean Walch-Duplay scores of 84 points. Scores of 13 of the patients were excellent, 17 were good, 11 were fair and 1 was poor. Conclusions: The Bristow-Latarjet procedure is a good surgical treatment for recurrent anterior dislocation of the glenohumeral joint.
