The gold-copper mixed film electrode prepared in-situ on graphite solid disk substrate is used for the anodic stripping voltammetric (ASV) determination of mercury (Hg) in acid HClO4 5.10-3 M with two popular techniques: differential pulse and square wave. The factors influencing mercury stripping peak current (Ip) of Hg such as pulse amplitude (ΔEA), potential sweep rate (v), frequency… were investigated. The results showed that ΔEA = 100 mV, v = 10 mV/s (differential pulse technique); and ΔEA = 50 mV, frequency = 75 Hz (square wave technique) were the optimal parameters and other suitable test conditions with good repeatability. However, the methods indicated that the sensitivity in case of using differential pulse was higher than the one of square wave (LOD = 0.04 μg/L < 0.08 µg/L).
