Xuan Lien Nature Reserve Area is one of areas where vegetation composition is rich in in Vietnam. However the plants in the area is decreasing. Specially two species Fokienia hodginsii and Cunninghamia lanceolala with their high commercial value, the requyrement of using their wood is higher day by day. This is the reason of the researching on the growth of two species mentioned above. The reseaching resutls will improve the conservation of two species in Xuan Lien Natural Reserve Area. The results of germination of two species showed that the rate of germination of Fokienia hodginsii is 90 percent after soaking seeds 4-5 days before sowing whereas that of Cunninghamia lanceolala is zero. The diamete and the height of Fokienia hodginsii and Cunninghamia lanceolala in Xuan Lien is rather high and various based on geographic types and highest at sites above sea level 900-1,500m. The canopy of two species having everage diamete is rather large and that of Cunninghamia lanceolala is larger than that of Fokienia hodginsii. However this indicator varies a little in different sea level. The researching results show that in Xuan Lien, the forest of Fokienia hodginsii and Cunninghamia lanceolala is a high quality forest with 71.55 percent of good trees, 23.45 percent of average and bad tree and 5 percent of very bad tree.
