Using predator mite Amblyseius longispinosus to control red spider mite Tetranychus urticae Koch on muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.) was conducted in greenhouse conditions at the Agricultural High-tech park of Ho Chi Minh city. The results showed that the high efficiency control will be obtained when A. longispinosus were released from beginning of the crop and maintained the ratio of predatory mites and spider mite in muskmelon were 1 A. longispinosus : 3 T. urticae and 1 A. longispinosus : 5 T. urticae. With these ratio, T. urticae density in releasing treatments (17.1 and 26.4 T. urticae) were lower than those of control treatment (119.7 T. urticae) and chemical control (58.5 T. urticae). Moreover, commercial value of muskmelon was also improved by using predator mite to control spider mite.
