Caves have unique scientific, entertainment, and scenic values which are being threatened by human carelessness and deliberate destruction. Once lost, these values cannot be restored. It's the responsibility of cave researchers and explorers to protect them. All of the cave resource values, including speleothems, lives, and friable sediments, are significant for cave exploration, research, and interpretation. Surveying, measuring, and mapping caves are cruicial and play an important role in the conservation and reasonable exploitation and use of the cave system. The article presents a system of surveying, measuring, and mapping methods and proposes some solutions for the sustainable management, exploitation, and use of caves that have applied in the world as well as in Vietnam. This is the basis for competent authorities to develop a legal framework and contribute to protecting the natural resources and particularly the cave system in Vietnam.
