Melioidosis (hay còn gọi là bệnh Whitmore) là bệnh truyền nhiễm cấp tính, nguy hiểm ở động vật và ở người do vi khuẩn Burkholderia pseudomallei gây nên. Vi khuẩn này gây bệnh trên nhiều loài động vật như dê, cừu, lợn, ngựa, chuột, chó, trâu, bò, gấu, vv... Bước đầu điều tra tỷ lệ nhiễm vi khuẩn Burkholderia pseudomallei trên lợn, chúng tôi đã tiến hành lấy 219 mẫu, bao gồm mẫu máu, phổi, nước tiểu tại các lò giết mổ lợn, mẫu dịch họng, nước tiểu, ổ áp xe tại các trại lợn và các nông hộ nuôi lợn ở Nghệ An (tại 4 huyện, 10 xã) vào tháng 8 và tháng 10 năm 2016. Sau quá trình nuôi cấy, phân lập và giám định vi khuẩn trong phòng thí nghiệm, đã xác định được 1 mẫu dịch họng (trong 219 mẫu) dương tính với vi khuẩn Burkholderia pseudomallei trong đợt 2 tháng 10 (chiếm tỷ lệ 0,46%). Kiểm tra tính mẫn cảm với kháng sinh cho thấy chủng vi khuẩn này mẫn cảm cao với amo+a. clavulanic, ciprofloxacin, chloramfenicol, tetracylin và mẫn cảm trung bình với kanamycin, kháng hoàn toàn với các kháng sinh gentamycin, colistin và đạt mức tiêu chuẩn kháng với ceftazidim.

Melioidosis (or Whitmore disease) is a serious, acute disease, infecting not only in animals such as goat, sheep, pig, horse, mice, dog, buffalo, cow, bear… but also in human; This disease is caused by the Burkholderia pseudomallei bacterium. To investigate the Burkholderia pseudomallei infection in pigs, 219 samples, including blood, lung tissues, urine samples from the slaughterhouses, pharyngeal swab, urine, abscess samples from the commercial pig farms and household pig farms in 4 districts and 10 communes of Nghe An province were collected in August and October 2016. The result of culturing, isolation and bacteria strain identification in the laboratory showed that there was 1 pharyngeal swab sample (out of 219 samples) from the 2nd batch in October detected to be positive with Burkholderia pseudomallei (accounting for 0.46%). The result of antibiotic sensitivity test showed that this bacterium was highly susceptible with amo+a.clavulanic, ciprofloxacin, chloramfenicol, tetracylin, mildly susceptible with kanamycin, completely resistant to gentamycin, colistin and meet the resistant standards to ceftazidim.
