Filial piety is a root of being human, of goodness, thus it was discussed in Confucianism, Buddhism, Daoism and other religious treatises in ancient times... Since then, filial piety has been inherited and developed, it shows its far-reaching influence in the educating tradition and morality for the Vietnamese people from families to the society. In order to provide an appropriate view of filial piety towards Vietnam's society today, the paper explains the Buddhist conception on nature of filial piety, firstly points out instances of breaking filial piety and offers solutions for the instances in Vietnamese families today.
