Sam - An Truyen lagoon is part of the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon system, the largest in the Southeast Asia. This lagoon area extends over six communes and the livelihood activities of the inhabitants are quite abundant and in multiform. These activities have impacts on lagoon environment. The inhabitants live on the agricultural activities and mostly exploiting natural resources such as fishing. Others of home craft or services are also livelihood activities here. Unsustainable exploiting and fishing activities have caused negative. impacts on the environment and ecology. This paper presents the initial understanding typical impacts of livelihood activities in Phu An commune on Sam - An Truyen lagoon environment and proposing appropriate solutions for a sustainable environment in the lagoon.
