The important ceremonies of each person are marriage, coming of age, funeral, and death anniversary. Followers of Tứ Ân Hiếu Nghĩa in Tri Tôn district, An Giang province have rituals associated with their religion, which are most evident in marriage and funeral ceremonies. For the Vietnamese followers of Tứ Ân Hiếu Nghĩa religion, marriage is not only the ceremony of two people, two families, but it also expresses the meaning of the religion they are following. The marriage of Tứ Ân Hiếu Nghĩa followers (with religious factors) has distinct characteristics along with the traditional Vietnamese marriage characteristics. It is completely easy to recognize a traditional wedding ceremony of Tứ Ân Hiếu Nghĩa followers by the black dresses (Áo dài) of participants, the chanting of blessings, fish, and plants served at the wedding party. Over time, the traditional characteristics of the marriage of the Vietnamese followers have disappeared, it gradually changed to integrate with the general trend. This article point out the characteristics of Tứ Ân Hiếu Nghĩa believers’ marriage in the past and at present.
