Located in the Southern Lowland Endemic Bird Area and the Southern Coastal Dipterocarp L, region, one of the crutial priority site in conservation by WNF, Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve was reported to support at least 103 bird species. During the last ten year, the needs of development and local people demands have put high threats to the NR in general and birds in parti In order to reassess the avifauna of the NR, the authors conducted a one-year survey on birds of Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu NR with five fieldtrips between August 2011 and May 2012. The authors recorded 156 bird Sl complement 88 species to avifauna of the reserve. More than 50 percent bird species was found in every forest. Two globally threatened species listed in IUCN 2012 Red List of Threatened Species and species listed in the Red Data Book of Vietnam (2007) were recorded. Assessment result of s abundance based on 100 Mackinnon lists showed that, Streptopelia chinensis and Pycnonotus finla: were the most abundance species with frequency of 30 percent while all threatened species occurred in very abundance. This result reflects that the habitat of the NR is highly disturbed. Bird composition of the quyte different to neighboring protected areas and therefore more effort is needed to protect especially for rare and precious species.
