Weber-Christian is a systemic autoimmune disease caused by recurrent subcutaneous nodules in the fatty layers beneath the skin. If the disease progresses, it may Iead to damages in many organ systems. This study looks at a rarely seen case of a Weber-Christian patient, where the disease caused many fatty nodules to appear under the skin together with panniculitis, peptic ulcer and inflammatory bowel with anemia in intestinal sections. Weber-Christian patients response well to corticoid therapy. Both clinical and paraclinical symptoms are generally reduced after 3 months of coriticoid treatments. To sum up, systemic autoimmune diseases are hard to diagnose as their causes are varied, because recurrent subcutaneous nodules are hidden in the fatty layers beneath the skin. Untreated Weber-Christian disease often leads to damages in many organ systems, including the human gastrointestinal tract.
