Twelve geopolymer mixtures using sea sand, seawater or river sand and fresh water have been fabricated. Flexural and compressive strengths of 40x40x160 cm samples at 3, 7 and 28 days were tested according to TCVN 3121-2003. Research results show that the curing time of geopolymer concrete can be shortened in comparison with conventional cement concrete, reducing the construction progress. The geopolymer mixture using sea sand can achieve the grade of strength, which is similar to that using river sand and fresh water. It can be seen that the replacement river sand by sea sand in manufacturing of structural concrete contributes into the exploitation reduction of the gradually depleted river sand.
