Vietnam coast plays an important role in country development with 3260 km coastline.and more than 1 million km2 territorial waters and exclusive economic zone, rich marine and coastal resourses and is home for 51.53 percent of total national population. However, the region is facing the risk of serious loss of resources due to over-exploitation, increasing conflict between conservation and development and in particular the impact of climate change (CC), including sea level rise, extreme weather conditions and environmental catastrophes. Coastal communities are vulnerable groups affected by climate change and are involved in the management of marine resources and livelihoods. Attention must be paid to studies on solutions for issues of coastal area management and sustainable marine resources, minimizing risks and impacts of climate change, enhancing adaptive capacity and reselience of community in marine resource management. The case study at coastal biosphere reserve in the Red River Delta is done by MCD with the participation of stakeholders will determine the vulnerability and climate change impacts, opportunities and challenges, the suggested approaches and solutions to enhance the adaptability and reselience of communities, improve management of marine resources and develop adaptively sustainable livelihoods. Biosphere reserve is an initiative based on the ecosysten, approach in harmony with the objectives of the needs and benefit the conservation of natural values and cultural and sustainable economic development in the coastal region of Vietnam.
