In two crop seasons of 2011, autwnn-winter and late autumn-winter, at Dong Nai, Ba Ria- Vung Tau, Dak Nong and Dak Lak provinces an assessment of stability and adaptability of hybrid maize combinations has been conducted. The experiments conducted basing on the rule of random complete blocks distribution (RCBD) with 3 repetitions. Each combination was grown in a particular plot of 5 m long, the distance between two rows 75 cm and between two plants 20 cm. The quantity of fertilizers is equally applied for all of experiments, including 150 kg N, 90 kg P2OS and 60 kg K2O/ha. The results of ANOVA analysis of the 14 hybrid maize combinations and 3 control samples through 7 different media, showed that there is the disparity in productivity of them with the statistical significance P0.01, and besides, the different performance of stability and adaptability. The two hybrid maize combinations VKl x NK67-2 and VE8 x BC3F3-1 are the most adaptable to the experimental media, recognizable through the stability index trending towards 0, adaptability index 52 oscillating around number 1. Those are the. two most promising hybrid combinations for production. Moreover, in unfavourable conditions of the environment, like drought, the combination VE8 x BC3F3-26 proved its standing of productivity.
