The overcurrent relay is the most popular relay used to prevent power systems from potential faults. Incorrect installation of overcurrent relay parameters may lead to false tripping or even bypass of fault conditions. This paper proposes an overcurrent relay model in SimPowerSystems (Matlab/Simulink). A power system is modeled in SimPowerSystems and this overcurrent relay model is impelemented in the test case to protect faults on the power system.
