Objective: To evaluate the initial results of retroperitoneallaparoscopic ureterolithotomy for upper ureter stones. Subject and method: A prospective study of 116 cases with upper ureter stones operated by retroperitoneallaparoscopic ureterolithotomy was carried out in general surgical department of the No.17 Military Hospital from 9/2009 to 9/2014. Operation was performed by 3 trocars. Steps of the procedure consisted of spilitting, creating Gaur retroperitoneal cavity to identify the ureter and stone, performing ureterolithotomy, examining the patency of the ureter and suturing the ureter. Statistical factors were intraoperative accidents, operative time and postoperative complications. Result: In 116 cases of retroperitoneal laparoscopic ureterolithotomy for upper ureter stones, the authorsobtained the results: successful rate of ureterolithotomy was 100 percent mean operative time was 60-90 minutes, mean postoperative hospital stay was 7-12 days and there was no case of urinary leakage with a double J stent. Conclusion: Retroperitoneal laparoscopic ureterolitnotomy for upper ureter stones was a modern technical which was effective and less invasive. This technical can effectively be performed in a final line hospital of an army region.
