The genre of prose literature was first introduced into the 2018 Philology curriculum in the 7th and 11th grades. Theoretically, the term “prose” includes both broad and narrow senses. This will lead to two different views on the scope of prose, which includes the genre of travel literature or is a subtype of travel literature. Although being different in terms of expression, all three definitions of prose in three sets of 7th-grade Philology textbooks agree on basic aspects of prose, considering prose as a subtype of travel literature. The content and requirements for teaching reading comprehension of prose texts under the Philology curriculum in the 7th-grade have been specified in three sets of 7th-grade Philology textbooks. However, it is still a big challenge for teachers in practice because this is a new genre, so there are few references. This article aims to make suggestions on some measures to teach reading comprehension of prose texts for the 7th-graders - the first graders accessed this genre according to the Philology curriculum in 2018. These measures are aimed at guiding students to read comprehension of prose texts according to the typical elements of this genre, such as subject and topic, structural circuits and typical details, lyricism and the image of the author’s ego, and the language of prose
