From data of 4 field trips in framework of the project "Research on distribution status and protected solutions of the Red algae resource" were carried out in these months January, March, May, and July in period from 2009 to 2010. In 209 stations were surveyed, seaweed samples were collected in 268 stations. At sampled stations, 391 samples were collected and 174 species of Rhodophyta were identified, it is belonging to 2 classes, 16 orders, 29 families and 48 genera. Based on the field survey results, GIS technology (Geographic Information System) were employed to set up thematic maps of the distribution status of Red seaweed resources along Vietnam coastal. The initial results on distribution data of Red seaweed along Vietnam's coast will be played a significant part on orientation . making to conservation policy and sustainable development plan of Red seaweed resources in particular and Vietnam seaweed resources in general.
