Research and development of principles and methods are the task of any science. Also, cartography has been researching, building and improving gradually its principles and methods for perceiving study subjects and selfdeveloping. Research on mapping methods has become important trend in cartography. Nowadays, mapping methods are popular an irreplaceable tools to scientists on the field of Earth and celestial bodies, in which maps are an indispensable part of contents and results of researches in terms of theory and practice. However, the concepts of mapping methods and its applications vary on fields. To unify the definitions step by step, it is necessary to do deeper researches on mapping methods in cartographic theory although there are several domestic and international related studies. This paper contributes to a sense, a way of thinking about the mapping methods in order to apply them effectively and accurately.
