In social sciences and humanities research, many scientific disciplines (sociology, economics, social statistics, population, labor market, human resources, etc.) need the social forecasting function. Realising the important role of forecasting labor supply and demand, in 2009, the Government directed the establishment of centers to forecast labor demand. This article mentions some features of sociological forecasting, the meaning of social forecast, and introduces the main features of two Covid-19 situation forecasts in Hồ Chí Minh City by two scientific studies, and at the same time point out some reasons why these two forecasts are not accurate. On that basis, the paper analyses the economic consequences of Covid-19 deaths using the statistical measurement approach of the statistical value of life.
