This paper presents the features of wind and wave regime in the coastal water of Binh Thuan - Ca Mau base on the statistical results of observed wind data at Phu Quy (1987-2007), Con Dao (1989-2008) islands, and typhoon data (1945-2010) were taken from the website www.weatherunisvs.com/hurricane of the National Weather Service, USA. Distribution features of wave characteristics in study area were computed by SWAN model. The obtained results show that study area is mainly affected by NE and SW monsoon winds. NE monsoon wind is stronger in intensity and higher stability in direction than SW monsoon wind. Also, wind characteristics at Phy Quy island are stronger in intensity and higher stability in direction than at Con Dao island. During 1945-2008 study area has 20 typhoons activities, occurred mainly in November (11 typhoom), December (5 typhoon!') with maximum wind velocity of 30 m/s. Mean monsoon wind of 9 m/s was induced significant wave height (Hs) field of 1.0 - 1.5 m in almost the Mekong River mouth area. Nearshore bathymetry and Con Dao island have an important role to distribution of wave energy in study area. In general, this region has moderate and harmonic regime of wind and wave.
