Soil samples 0(5 x 5 x 10 cm were taken in 6 habitat types as follows: (I) primitive forest at 2200 m, (II) at 1970 m, (III) secondary forest at 2000 m ,and (IV) at 1880 m (V) grass - shrub land at 1900 m and (VI) garden near settlements at 1740 m of Hoang Lien National Park. Samples were taken from 3 vertical layers of soil in March 2007 (dry season) and in July 2007 (rain season) as follows: (Ao) litter lying on the soil surface of 25 x 25 cm2 (A,) surface layers of 0 - 10 cm soil and (A2) deep layers of 11 - 20 cm. 75 species of Collembola belonging to 38 genera and 13 families were found. New for the Hoang Lien NP are 61 species and 2 are newly recorded for the fauna of Vietnam (Willowsia brahmides Denis and Salina pal/ens Yosii). Zoogeographically, the Collembola of Hoang Lien NP represent a mixture of cosmopolitan (34.09 percent of species total), Holarctic (31.82 percent) and Indo-Malaian elements (34,09 percent). Some of the quantitative indexes of the Collembola community in the Hoang Lien NP such as density, H' diversity and J' green indexes and their change according to season and depth of soil were also presented.
