Aims: to analyze the early outcome of the surgical treatment for peritonitis secondary to neonatal intestinal perforation at the National hospital of Pediatrics. Methods: a clinical trial, without casecontrol study, analyzing the pre and post-operative outcomes. Results: The most common site of Intestinal perforation that leads to peritonitis in neonates is ileum (37,3 percent). The most common cause of intestinal perforation is necrotizing enterocolitis (32,2 percent). The surgical outcomes are divided into 3 categories: good, average and bad with the respective . proportions are 42,3 percent, 11,9 percent and 33,9 percent. The majority of patients (66,1 percent) can tolerate oral feeding post-operatively. The majority of patient (76,3 percent) has a hospital stay of greater than 1 week. The most common post-operative complication is septicemia (32,2 percent). Conclusions: The majority of neonates with intestinal perforation that underwent surgery had a good or average outcome.
