Eugenia jambos L. belongs to the Myrtaceae family and it is collected in Kien Giang province. In the traditional medicine, E. jambos L. is used as for antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, haemorrhagic treatment, liver protection and lung disease treatment. In this study, the ethanol extract from E. jambos L. is extracted by using the liquid-liquid extraction process with solvents of increasing polarity n-hexane. From the hexane extracts, two compounds have been isolated, namely 5((8'Z,11'Z,14'Z)-heptadeca-8',11',14'-trien-l-yl) benzene-1,3-diol (1), and β -sitosterol-D-glycoside (2). The structures of these compounds is elucidated by modern spectroscopic methods such as: 1H-NMR, 13C -NMR, HMBC, HSQC and compared with published data. This study provides basic information about the chemical compounds of E. jambos L. in order to find the main active which can be used as a standard in testing.
